This workshop is available to ARC Adoption adopters. It outlines the key aspects of the Fostering for Adoption process and how it differs from mainstream adoption.

Fostering for Adoption is one of the early permanence routes that refers to a situation where a named child may be placed with adopters who are also temporarily approved as foster carers who initially foster the child, with the hope of becoming their adoptive parent once the court proceedings have been concluded.

The workshop covers:

  • The difference between fostering and mainstream adoption
  • The benefits and challenges of fostering for adoption
  • Expectations of the fostering role
  • Contact with birth parents
