Finding the right child for you

Once you become an approved adopter, it’s time to start looking for the right child or children that will join your family.

It is important to consider not only your needs, but equally those of the children looking for a loving and nurturing family,  which means trying to get the best possible match between everyone’s needs.

Local authorities (LAs) and regional adoption agencies (RAAs) have the responsibility for finding adoptive parents for the children in their care, but they are also often looking for parents outside their geographical area, especially if choosing a location further away from birth family is in the best interests of the child.

The professional and experienced team at ARC Adoption North East proactively work with local authorities and regional adoption agencies throughout the country to find the child(ren) who would benefit most from being part of a loving and nurturing family.

The time that it takes to find the right child or children for you can differ greatly because each situation is unique and the match needs to be right for both you and the child(ren) as you embark on a new stage in life together. While many parents are matched quickly, for some it does take a while longer.

The next stage in the adoption process is the Matching Panel.

If you would like to know more about adoption, please call 0191 516 6466 or complete our enquiry form and a member of the ARC Adoption team will contact you as soon as possible.
