Social and peer support

We understand how important it is, that adopters have access to the right support, at a time that is suitable for them. Social and peer support, in various forms, can be really beneficial to adopters throughout their journey, and ARC provides access to a range of online and in-person services and resources.

The Adopter Hub

In addition to the support provided by the ARC Adoption support team, ARC Adoption provides access to dedicated online support platform The Adopter Hub.

Created as a result of listening to adopters and working with them to provide accessible tools to empower adopters to access the support they need, The Adopter Hub provides learning opportunities and information for both adopters and professionals working with adoptive families.

This additional support allows adopters to access the following;

  • Peer support from other adopters via live web chat, email and an exclusive adopter forum.
  • A programme of webinars on topics covering behaviour and emotional resilience.
  • eLearning so that adopters can top up their knowledge on attachment and supporting their children.
  • A wide range of resources relating to areas such as behaviour, education, online safety, mental health and developmental needs.
  • Resources for schools and a range of materials to help children in in education.

Find out more about The Adopter Hub in the video below. If you are an ARC adopter and would like access, simply contact us for a log-in.

    Once the family finding process is complete the match will need to be agreed formally by the adoption panel for the child’s agency. If approval is recommended by the adoption panel for the match, the child’s adoption agency decision maker then makes the final decision.

    Fostering for adoption

    At ARC Adoption North East are committed to exploring different routes to adoption. ARC Adoption offers an early permanence route, often referred to as fostering for adoption or foster to adopt. Fostering for adoption means that young children, usually babies, are placed at a young age with approved potential adopters who would also be approved temporary foster carers whilst the family court decides on the child’s future.

    Following your initial enquiry, if you would like to progress with the adoption process a member of ARC Adoption North East’s team will visit you in your home.
