Senior Family Support Worker

Teresa joined the ARC Adoption team in 2018, with a wealth of knowledge and experience in supporting carers to meet the complex needs of children who have experienced early trauma. With a background in health, Teresa progressed her career into social care as a highly qualified and skilled trainer, designing and delivering training programmes to ensure carers had the knowledge and skills to meet the complex needs that children may present. Also trained in Theraplay and KEEP Teresa has supported carers to develop strategies to increase their confidence and skills in managing and responding to behaviour difficulties. 

Today, Teresa is an integral and highly valued member of ARC’s Therapeutic Adoption Support Service, working day-to-day with adoptive parents and children, building trusted relationships and helping them to navigate a variety of challenges. She also delivers training such as PACE, and other workshops, equipping adoptive families with important tools to support ongoing family life.

Teresa is married to Steve, has two grown up children who are married and six grandchildren. She is very much a people person, and an active member of her local community being the vice chair on the board of trustees at her local community centre which also involves overseeing the early years provision.
